Why does the Orthodox world need to wait 200 years before it ordains women rabbis?
This was the question asked by Rabbi Chaya Rowen-Baker, a Masorti (Conservative) congregational rabbi, and an Orthodox woman scholar at in response to an argument in another Y-net article by Rabbi Haim Navon. The fact that Navon’s comments elicited this and many other responses only serves to underline the fact that the liberal movements and Orthodox feminism are having an impact in Israel. Read more
